24-Hour-a-Day, 365-Day-a-Year Phone Consultation
This basic level of service is provided to every NorthWest Weathernet client. Highly trained and experienced forecasters are always on duty to provide verbal briefings to our clients and answer questions regarding changing weather conditions. Anyone who answers the phone is a qualified meteorologist. You will never get a receptionist, answering service, recording, or pager. This type of service cannot be obtained from government forecasting services.
-
24-Hour Emergency and Alert Notification
This level of service is provided to clients who have determined that certain weather events are critical to their operations and have identified threshold criteria at which they must take mitigative action. For such clients, NorthWest Weathernet offers an alert service whereby we constantly monitor pertinent weather developments and notify the client, with the maximum possible leadtime, of a potential problem in the making. This "no news is good news" approach allows the client to go about his business secure in the knowledge that he will be notified at any time day or night of an impending weather threat. Of course, as always, the client is always welcome to call for a briefing if he has some question or concern.
-
Daily Written Forecasts
This product option is utilized by both government clients and the construction industry. It typically consists of once or twice daily written forecasts detailing short-range and medium-range weather for specific sites or areas of interest to the client. Forecast elements are presented in concise, plain-language formats, rather than technical jargon. Transmittal of these written forecasts is accomplished via direct fax, e-mail, computer-to-computer transfer, or by means of our password protected client forecast option on this website. Clients receiving this service are encouraged to call for verbal updates to the written forecasts. Forecasts are generated through a mix of future technologies and human experience to provide a maximized product/service which relates to the end user.

Transportation Weather Services
NorthWest Weathernet provides route and site specific road weather services for the western mountain states and provinces of North America. Services include comprehensive umbrella programs which focus on all aspects of intermountain weather and its affects on public transportation around the clock all days of the year. Weathernet programs are popular with county and city public works, government emergency management, construction and engineering, DOT maintenance divisions and highway patrol. The Weathernet program stresses the development of clearly defined communications and understanding of needs between the end user and the Weathernet meteorologist. A significant portion of the Weathernet process is interacting with clients in the field. Weathernet provides Road Weather Information Services (RWIS) for agencies having site specific road snow and ice prediction interests. Weathernet also provides advanced applied services associated with Maintenance Decision Support Systems (MDSS). Client references are available upon request.

Weather Services and the Energy Trades
NorthWest Weathernet provides routine weather forecasting services to a variety of
energy resource clients, such as natural gas providers, and major electric utility
companies. These forecasts are used by the utility clients to plan for short-term and
long-term energy loads. Weather variables that can impact energy loads include
temperature, wind, precipitation, and cloud cover. Advanced notice of significant regional
weather changes can significantly reduce costs for these clients in terms of acquisition
and allocation of key energy resources. We also provide our energy utility clients with
long-range monthly and seasonal outlooks, which are based in large part on climate
research conducted in-house by our own staff.

News Media Forecast Services
Our news media clients range from radio and television stations to major regional newspapers. In the realm of broadcast media, we have the capability of providing a variety of services, including actual on-air broadcasting, "behind-the-scenes" written forecasts and briefings to on-air personalities, and periodic special interviews for radio and television during times of high public concern in severe weather events.
NorthWest Weathernet is also one of the few commercial weather services nationwide that offers a full suite of newspaper weatherpage services, including full color graphics capability and customized forecasts and statistics that include specifics for the newspaper's primary distribution area as well as data from around the region, the nation, and the world.

Agricultural Weather Products
Recent budgetary cutbacks within the National Weather Service have eliminated most of the agricultural weather services and closed many small offices that for many years have provided critical weather information to the agriculture industry across the United States. In response to this sudden information vacuum, the commercial weather industry is stepping in to help the farmers attain the same (or better!) level of weather information services they have had in the past. NorthWest Weathernet offers specific forecasts to the agricultural community, including current observations and forecasts of temperature (and freeze potential), wind, precipitation, humidity, evaporation (and evapotranspiration) that are seasonally critical to various crops. Dissemination of this information can occur by means of written forecasts, recorded "weatherphone" messages, internet web pages, and of course the old standby, verbal briefings.
-
Recreation Forecasts
NorthWest Weathernet has well-established historical ties to the skiing, boating, and golfing industries. To date, forecasts to these industries have been primarily geared toward the maintenance services end of these recreation industries.
